Rat-Trap Bond is a type of brick masonry bond in which bricks are laid on edge such that the shiner and rowlock are visible on the face of masonry.
Thus, forming an internal cavity bridged by the rowlock.
This feature helps to keep enhanced thermal comfort and keep the interiors colder than outside and vice versa.
Due to internal cavity, this type of walls consumes less number of materials.
The appearance of facing of rat trap bond looks like the Flemish bond.
The rat trap bond requires skilled labours and sufficient care must be taken while designing.
