Silver-lock bond is the type of bond which uses stretcher bricks on edges instead of a bed.
These Bricks are kept standing vertically on end.
The bricks are arranged as headers and stretchers in such a manner that headers are placed on bed and stretchers are placed on edge thus forming a continuous cavity.
Due to this, the bond employs less number of bricks.
This bond is limited in strength but is economical.
Hence it is practiced for constructing garden walls, compound walls etc.
