Isometric Projection of a Frustum of a Cone

Isometric Projection of a Frustum of a Cone
This post explains the simple steps to draw the isometric projection of a frustum of a cone.

Let’s consider isometric projection of a frustum of a cone is to drawn for smaller diameter 40 mm and bigger diameter 50 mm whose axial height is 70 mm perpendicular to HP and parallel to VP.

Draw the principal axis OA and OB of length 50 mm inclined at 30° to the horizontal base line.
Complete the box, and draw the centre lines.
Draw the ellipse on this box either by four centre method or circular arc method.
Now, let’s draw using four centre method.
Draw the principal axis OC of length 70 mm.
Project the lines and complete the isometric box.
Draw the centre line up to an upper end of the isometric box.
Draw the small square box of length 40 diameters.
Draw the ellipse on this box by four centre method.
Join the common tangent with a straight line and thicken the visible lines.
Complete the isometric projection of a Frustum of a Cone with dimensioning and direction of viewing.
