Profile of B.S.W. Thread
This post explains the simple steps to draw the standard profile of B.S.W thread.

B.S.W. stands for British Standard Whitworth thread which is most common form followed in British.

Let us now understand the standard profile of BSW thread with an example.
Let us draw a standard profile of B.S.W. thread of pitch 50 mm to scale 1:1 other dimensions are kept as per standard.
First, draw a number of vertical lines for a distance of P/2. i.e. 25 mm.
The distance of major diameter D is calculated by 0.96*P.
That is D = 0.96*50 = 48 mm.
Draw the two horizontal thick line separated by distance D.
Draw another two parallel thin line at an offset distance of D/6 with reference to previous lines.
That is 48/6= 8 mm
With respect to thick lines, draw a triangle by joining the intersection point as displayed on the screen.
The angle made between the flanks should be 55°.
With respect to a triangle, draw an arc with a radius of r = 0.137P.
That is 0.137*50 = 6.85 mm.
Hatch the portion as displayed on the screen.
Complete the profile with the required dimensions.
