Profile of Square Thread
This post explains the simple steps to draw the standard profile of square thread.
Square threads are commonly used in valves, spindles, vice screws, etc.

A square thread is generally designated as SQ followed by nominal diameter in mm and pitch in mm.
For instance, in SQ 50 × 5, 50 mm is a nominal diameter of the thread and 5 mm is a pitch of the thread.
Let us draw, the standard profile of square thread to the scale 1:1 whose pitch is 40 mm. Provide other dimensions as per standards.
First, draw a number of vertical lines for a distance of P/2. I.e. 20 mm.
Draw two perpendicular lines for a distance of 20 mm.
Hatch the alternate box formed.
Project and hatch the remaining portions based on the requirements.
Complete the profile with the required dimensions.
