Soil Moisture
The water present in the soil is called as soil moisture.

Generally, all soils are in three phase system that is solid, liquid and air except dry soil & saturated soil.
The water and air are filled in the pore space between the solid particles.

These water molecules present in pore space are utilized in many places.

These water are utilised by the plant for their Growth.

But not all water present in the soil is utilised by plant.

Most of the water is held as thin film between the solid particles.

As we know, soil contains various salts.

These salts get dissolved in the water to form a soil solution, which acts as a medium for supply of nutrients to the plants.

Let us discuss about Importance of soil water.

Soil water is a principal constituents for growing plant.

The solution formed by the soil water acts as important source of nutrients for plants.
